Mumbai: After raising eyebrows with his revelation about veteran actress Asha Parekh lobbying for Padma Bhushan award, Nitin Gadkari has this time revealed that Hollywood actor Leonardo Di Caprio too lobbied for Oscar award.

As per Mr. Gadkari, the Hollywood actor who has been nominated but never won an Oscar, met the politician on his November visit to India and lobbied hard for the trophy.

Speaking to Faking News Mr. Gadkari said, “Yes he came to my house a few months back. The lift was not working and the stairs were also being repaired. He climbed the sewer pipe and came to my house. First when I saw him I thought ‘koi plumber hoga. Pipe repair karne aaya hoga’. But I later found out that it was Leonardo Di Caprio.”

Sources say that the Union Minister and the Hollywood star spoke at length and one of the things discussed was ‘recommendation for Oscar’.

“I explained to Mr. Caprio that Oscars are not Padma award that can be given to anyone by just a recommendation. Besides, I don’t know anyone in the Oscar judges panel that I can influence. But I did give him an idea about orchestrating something like the ‘Miss World-Steve Harvey’ fiasco, so that that Leonardo gets an award even though by mistake. He will get to hold the trophy once at least.

When asked about Asha Parekh’s denial on the incident of Padma award recommendation, Mr. Gadkari stood firm on his initial statement.

“I am telling you the truth. She did climb 12 floors and I felt really bad. I told her ‘Ashaji mera itna wajan badh gaya hai fir bhi lift band hone par mai stairs se nahi aata. Security guard ke cabin me ruk jata hu.’ I am fed up with people coming to my house and asking for recommendations. Ye Padma nahi Sadma hai,” he said as he cleaned the remnants of the last samosa on his plate, signaling his househelp to get another batch.
