“It is our start-up culture”: Musharraf on terror outfits

Islamabad: Close on the lines of declaring Kashmiri terrorists as freedom fighters, former Pak dictator Gen Pervez Musharraf has claimed that the surge in terror outfits in Pakistan is actually Pakistan’s start-up culture.

In an interview to a Pakistani News Channel, Musharraf has compared the budding terror outfits in Pakistan with India’s start up culture saying, “Like the start up firms in India is inspiring the youth there to be a part of the online and app based business revolution every day, we have our own start up culture which motivates the youth to be a part of the terror outfits.”

After saying that attacks like Pathankot will keep on happening and India should not over react to such attacks, Musharraf went on to state “The reason behind such attacks is the tempting compensations these ‘terror start-ups’ promise to our young, which is far better than any government or private sector company in Pakistan can offer them.”

On being asked whether he considers the surge of such terror outfits unfortunate for Pakistan Musharraf replied, “I don’t think so. Unlike any other sector in Pakistan, the terror sector is getting huge investments from foreign and I think the government should officially recognize such organizations and start taxing them to gain revenue. After all it’s our own start-up culture.”

Further commenting on the reported arrests of JeM leaders Musharraf said, “I don’t think it’s a bad move at all. ‘Arrests’ as you call it don’t actually hamper the functioning of these organizations but they in-stead add to the brand value and therefore attract more foreign funding. We have seen in past that organizations like LeT and JuD became rich after their leaders were arrested and I hope the same for JeM this time.”
