Mumbai: A statistics drawn by Police departments across India has revealed a shocking info that 18 Hindus have attempted to join the Islamic State (ISIS) due to poverty.
Speaking about the report, a top cop, on conditions of anonymity said, “As of this date, 18 Hindus had tried to escape via land and air route to Syria. 12 of them had been detained from Delhi, Mumbai and Chennai airports. 4 had been detained from West Bengal border and 2 had been detained in Turkey. They are currently under NIA custody and are being grilled over the contacts who had worked within our country to pull them to IS.”
“Our initial investigation had broken all our previous analysis of people joining terrorist groups in hordes. We all had been thinking that radicalisation or religious fundamentalism was the reason for people joining groups like Al Qaeda or ISIS. But, with people of all religion trying to join IS, we had to revisit our records. All those eighteen Hindus who had been detained had revealed that poverty drove them to Syria. All of them were from a very poor background and hence, they were bought by these terrorist groups to fight. Since IS or Al Qaeda or any other terrorist group has got nothing to do with religion, people from all religions are encouraged to join those groups and fight.”, concluded another top cop, who had been interrogating the detained 18.
Commenting on the report, a famous Expert on terrorism said, “We have to combat poverty to fight terrorism. The de-radicalisation has to happen not by force, but by food. If we had provided reservation and continued subsidies, why would poor people join terrorism? Now, even the upper caste Hindu males are claiming poverty and are trying to join terror groups to satisfy their lust for violence. There is no hope to India until Congress comes back to power and Rahul Gandhi as PM fights poverty and eradicates it, thereby ending terrorism.”
