17 year old boy stranded in kitchen for 5 hours waiting for ‘cooker ki 3 seeti’

New Delhi, Dec 24: A 17 year old boy was left stranded in his kitchen for 5 long days after his mother had given him the responsibility of turning the gas off post 3 whistles of the pressure cooker. Little did Shravan ‘Atiguna’ Kumar realize that the gas had run out on the 2nd whistle itself.

"I was told to keep an eye on whistle and not on the gas stove", said Shravan

“I was told to keep an eye on whistle and not on the gas stove”, said Shravan

Shravan was playing on his Ps4 when his mother left for her kitty party on Monday 4pm. She reminded him to turn the gas off after 3 whistles, something which is very common in North Indian households and is counted as one of the 3 key responsibilities for a boy – The other 2 being cracking IIT and not going for a love marriage. Sharavan noticed the first whistle and immediately moved to the kitchen to make sure he doesn’t fail his mother. At 4:15 pm, Shravan realized he is tired and went to fetch a stool for himself. In the meantime, the 2nd whistle came and Shravan rushed to the kitchen, profusely sweating since he had had previous experiences of back to back whistles. He promised himself to not move from the kitchen till the 3rd whistle came.

Shravan’s mother came home at 9:20 pm, overloaded with the smell of mouth freshener, and saw Shravan dozing off on the stool. She shouted on Shravan and asked him what he was doing there. In confusion, Shravan jumped up and thought he had missed the 3rd whistle. It was only after his mother informed him that the gas was off did Shravan finally heaved a sigh of relief.

When Fakingnews trying to contact the child and his mother, they got a stern reply from his father that the child had failed them and he could not have his dinner. Had Sharavan been attentive, he would have informed that the gas had run out and his dad would have taken corrective action by ordering a new cylinder from his favorite bar’s next door gas agency.

Noted psychologist, Dr. Gangadhar ‘Freud’ Misra, commented on the incident. “It’s very damaging for the child when he thinks he failed his parents miserably. Shravan should be given another chance by managing not 1 but 2 pressure cookers simultaneously. This will boost his confidence and give him the courage to face the world again”. Post this comment, Dr. Gangadhar pestered the FN team for his consultation fee and the reporters had to run away from his office.
