Bengaluru: Concerned with their poor bowling performances in the IPL so far, Royal Challengers Bangalore have decided to replace their bowlers with a bowling machine for their next match. Since the bowling machine is made outside India, it will count as one of the 4 overseas players allowed.

Royal Challengers have been in good form with the bat so far this season with AB de Villiers, Virat Kohli and Sarfarz Khan, all among runs but they have still managed to lose 2 out of their 3 games. They failed to defend 170 against Mumbai and even the last place favourites Delhi Daredevils chased down 192 against them.
“Our bowling has been severely weakened due to absence of Starc and Badree so we had to do something to change things around. We can’t expect the batsmen to score 200+ during every game so we had to bolster the bowling. We thought about signing up a bowler as Starc’s replacement but there was nobody available who could bowl better than the lo0t we have so we decided to opt for a bowling machine only”, said RCB’s coach Daniel Vettori.
“By including one bowling machine, we can play as many as 10 batsmen so hopefully they will be able to set a total that the bowling machine can defend. The machine will bowl at the same line and length as we want so the captain will be able to set the field accordingly. Right now, we strengthen offside field and bowlers bowl a leg stump full toss, we strengthen leg side and they bowl short and wide outside off. This is really frustrating and before I go bald, I want to get rid of that frustration”, Vettori added.
IPL governing body has accepted RCB’s demand to include a bowling machine in their side as a replacement for Mitchell Starc. “The accuracy with which he bowls Yorkers, even Starc is a machine only so it is a like for like replacement”, said a senior BCCI official.
Meanwhile, Kings XI Punjab are checking if there is a batting machine available as well along with a bowling machine so that they can replace their entire XI with the machines.
