Impressed with Kate Middleton’s batting, Tendulkar signs her up to strengthen Mumbai Indians

Mumbai: Impressed with Duchess of Cambridge Kate Middleton’s batting display at the Oval Maidaan yesterday, mentor of Mumbai Indians Sachin Tendulkar has signed her up for the rest of the IPL season. She will be the overseas replacement for Sri Lankan Lasith Malinga, missing due to injury.

Making the announcement, Sachin Tendulkar said, “After the disastrous showing in the first match, we were thinking about bringing in some reinforcements to boost our batting. I saw Kate batting at the maidaan yesterday and she looked much better than our batsmen against Pune, except Bhajji. IPL governing body has approved this inclusion as a replacement for Malinga so she should join our squad before our 2nd match.”

“We haven’t decided her batting position yet but we will come up with something after a meeting of all the coaches. Maybe we can drop Simmons, his magic is gone now after Ishant showed that it is possible for an Indian bowler to get him out and avoid bowling a no ball at the same time. Our next match is at Kolkata so she can see the first capital of British Raj as well as play the game in the evening”, Tendulkar added.

When asked whether she will be able to face the fast bowling of Umesh Yadav, Sachin replied, “We Indians give more respect to the royal couple than the British. I am sure Yadav will show the same level of respect and bowl very slowly to her highness.”

Duke and Duchess of Cambridge are currently on a visit to India where they are providing material for lists titled “10 typical things every white person does on a trip to India”. The couple hasn’t publicly commented yet on Kate’s cricketing career but as per sources, Queen Elizabeth is very unhappy with this development.

Meanwhile, Delhi daredevils tried to sign Prince William after hearing that he also hit a six at the oval maidaan but Prince William turned down the offer saying that Delhi needs divine intervention, not royal intervention.
