After hijacking Indian Airlines flight IC-714; terrorists demand Indian batsmen in exchange with the passengers on board

New Delhi. It was one of the most dramatic hostage crisis the country has ever seen after 26/11 Mumbai terror attacks. India was celebrating its win over arch rivals Pakistan in the recently held Asia Cup T20 in Dhaka when the news came in of the hijacking.

Indian Airlines flight IC-714 on its way back to Kolkata from Kathmandu, half an hour after take off on March 01, 2016, was taken over by five Pakistani hijackers with 180 passengers and crew on board.

"Want Indian batsmen at any cost"

One of the terrorists spoke with our correspondent Mr Cobra Chakroboty and complained, “We have never won against India in any ICC tournament and we are sick of it. Lately We have realised that PCB is a bunch of corrupt people and they really can’t do much. So we decided to take this matter in our hand. If your government doesn’t give us your top 10 batsmen in T20 cricket we will kill all the passengers on board”.

When Misbah was asked about his reaction on the hijacking he said, “Bismillah-e-Rehman-e-Rahim! All credit goes to the boys. Everyone work hard for it, especially Afridi. It was tight situation when he went in. Also Waqar Younis was keeping close watch on progress and giving instructions. It’s all team effort. Insha Allah, we all will work together as a team, put in big effort and deliver good result all the time and will be able to repeat the same result”

The hijack shook prime minister Narendraa Moddi’s NDDA government which was confronted with one of its toughest choices- whether or not to release the affable Indian Batsmen in exchange for the hostages. On the first deadline set by hijackers, an Indian delegation carrying negotiators, BCCI officials arrived in Kandahar and began talks with the gunmen and suggested to take other Indian cricketers like Dinda, Munaf Patel etc. This angered the terrorist more and they killed all the officials on spot.

Cangress, Laft, TMCCP and the other opponents have also supported the demand of the terrorist and said that Pakistan lacks good batsmen because the partition was unfairly done and this is a way to correct our past wrongs and provide equality to our neighbours and on the plus side it will make future matches more competitive.

Meanwhile the relatives of all the passengers have been protesting at Jantar Mantar, New Delhi in support of their family.
