Mumbai: Colors TV has decided to start a Newshour type debate show in place of Comedy Nights With Kapil which is coming to an end soon. The highly popular comedy show CNWK will air its final episode next Sunday and Colors has decided to replace one comedy show with another.
Comedy Nights With Arnab?
Speaking to Faking News, a Colors TV spokesperson said, “Audience now expects a comedy show from us every Sunday. With CNWK coming to a close, we had to look for alternatives but with similar theme. We needed something slightly loud, slightly chaotic and a whole lot of nonsense so we zeroed in on news debates.”
“In CNWK we had guys pretending to be girls; in news debates we have clueless people pretending to be experts. There is a host in both cases who mocks anyone trying to counter question him. CNWK had film stars, news debates have political spokespersons so you see, the theme is very much the same.” explained the spokesperson.
“At the end of the day, its all about humiliation. Kapil humiliated his servant, Daadi, wife, bua, Palak, Gutthi with his jokes and news anchors do the same to the spokespersons sent by various political parties. We just need to adjust the tone a little bit and we will have our comedy show.” The spokesperson went on to add.
As per sources, Colors is in talks with Navjot Singh Siddhu to continue his role of sitting and laughing but there are concerns that he might not laugh when anchor slams BJP spokespersons. When we checked with the Colors spokesperson, he dismissed such concerns and asked us, “How can Siddhu not laugh if he hears a sound, any sound?”
Apart from keeping hold of their loyal viewers, Colors is also hoping to tap into a whole new segment of people who like political circus.
Meanwhile, some Bollywood producers were seen at Colors office checking whether they can release their films without promoting on Comedy Nights with Kapil.
