Dhaka: Blaming Dhoni’s photoshopped pic for motivating the Indian batsmen during their win in the Asia Cup final, Bangladesh government has decided to ban Photoshop in the country during the upcoming World T20 tournament.
Just before the final, Bangladesh fans circulated a photoshopped image on social media which showed fast bowler Taksin Ahmed holding Dhoni’s severed head. As per alleged cricket expert Ramiz Ghulam, this was the reason Indian batsmen, Dhoni in particular, appeared extra motivated during their chase. Dhoni finished the chase by scoring 20 in 6 balls including a monster 104 meters six.
“There are batsmen you can offend and then there are players like Virat and Dhoni. This is totally immature by our fans to upset these players and motivate them to do well against us. This behavior isn’t unacceptable and we must put a stop to this for our team to have any chance during the World T20”, Bangladesh minister for Information Hasanul Haq Inu said.
“This was just the Asia Cup so we are not taking any action but anyone caught photoshopping during the World Cup will face severe action. If we run into Pakistan during the tournament, maybe we will relax this rule. After all, what will their batsmen do even if they are upset”, the honourable minister went on to add.
This decision has been met with a lot of anger from general Bangladesh public. “Just because one idiot used photoshop top create an awful image, I am not allowed to photoshop me standing next to Priyanka Chopra? This is not fair. I already told my friends that I met Priyanka on the sets of her Hollywood film. I need to show them the pic now”, said 23 yrs old Shabbir.
Shabbir’s sentiments were echoed by a wide range of people who thought this idea of collective punishment is wrong.
Meanwhile, Bangladesh Government has clarified that those photoshopping their documents in India to get an Aadhar card are not covered under this order.
