PM Modi attends special screening of Dil Dhadakne Do. Says he could identify most of the foreign locations in the movie

New Delhi. He may not have taken a single day off since he became the PM, but last Saturday  PM Narendra Modi took some time off to watch Dil Dhadkne Do with some select cabinet ministers. PM Modi agreed to watch the movie after  special request was sent by lyricist Javed Akhtar to Prime Ministers Office. Arun Jaitley, Suresh Prabhu, Nitin Gadkari and Sushma Swaraj were also present at the screening.

The screening took place a few hours before PM Modi was scheduled to fly to Bangladesh. The auditorium was packed to capacity with ministers and cast of the movie. Representatives from the media was also present, including Faking News.

The movie was liked by all, however it was the runtime that not everyone was pleased with. Our reporter overheard two MP’s discussing the movie. One complained, “Kitni lambi movie thi. Itna time toh ek jagah Parliament me bhi nahi baithte hai hum.” To which other MP guffawed, “Sahi kaha, agar parliament hota toh abh tak adjourn kar dete.”

Post movie, PM and his ministers were seen having an animated conversation with Javed Akhtar.  The lyricist admired the fact that PM Modi could identify most of the foreign locales in the movie. He said, “The movie was shot across Europe and even  in Canada. Modiji identified most of the locations and even gave suggestions on alternate locations which could have looked better for that scene.”

Nitin Gadkari was at his jovial best and Railways Minister Suresh Prabhu was at the receiving end. Mr Gadkari remarked, “It is good that Anil Kapoor is shown as  belonging to high society else the movie would have been 6hrs long .” Mr Prabhu asked, “how is that?” to which Mr Gadkari replied, “If he was middle class then he would have travelled by train instead of going on a cruise and he would have had to spend extra 3hrs booking train tickets on IRCTC.” After hearing this comment even PM Modi couldn’t stifle a laugh.

Meanwhile Congress party has criticised the BJP led government for ignoring issues related to common man. Rahul Gandhi said, “In logon ko Parliament attend karne ki fursat nahi lekin movie screening ke liye waqt hai. Ye cola-popcorn ki sarkar hai. Modiji, kabhi gareebon ke liye bhi Dil Dhadkne Do.”

Congress party may raise their voice, but clearly BJP is not listening. This is not the first time that politicians have been invited for movie screenings. Priyanka Gandhi and her family has also been part of screenings before.

Our reporter noted that the scenes at the auditorium were similar to a screening held previously by Javed Akhtar for ex-President Pratibha Patil when Zoya Akhtars Zindagi Na Milegi Dobara was released. Back then Pratibha Patil had rued the fact that she saw the movie towards the end of her tenure, else she would have definitely taken  a trip to Spain. As for PM Modi, given his travel itinerary, he definitely won’t have any regrets.
