New Delhi: Citing a severe shortage of protest venues in the National Capital, Union Government today approved plans to construct 5 more Jantar-Mantars in and around Delhi.

Making this announcement, Minister of Urban Development, Mr. Venkaiah Naidu said that due to severe congestion at Jantar-Mantar in Delhi, Government is taking this step to ensure enough protest venues for everyone.
Speaking to the press, Mr Naidu said, “In a democracy, everyone must have access to a good protest venue. Some of the current protest venues are booked by OROP protesters and FTII students and it doesn’t look like we will make an effort to end their protests any time soon so we needed more venues for others. This is an effort by us to provide enough protest facilities for everyone.”
Jantar Mantar was built by Maharaja Jai Singh during the 18th century to provide a place to protest for common people of India. Though he constructed 5 of them, only the one in Delhi became popular with the protesters. Expert protesters cite the proximity to 7 RCR as the reason behind this popularity.
Further explaining the government’s decision, BJP spokesperson Mr Sambit Patra said, “It was getting hard to keep track of every protester at the current Jantar Mantar. Last week, I promised OROP to an Asaram supporter, bail for Gajendra Chauhan to FTII students and removal of chairman to ex-servicemen. This started another protest at Jantar-Mantar against BJP spokespersons. We had to take action to end this confusion.”
Though the location for the other 5 Jantar-mantars has not been finalized, sources say that one of the protest places could be the Chandni Chowk market. “There are always so many people there that nobody will notice a few thousand protesters and Government won’t feel any pressure on their account”, an insider told Faking News.
Another proposed Jantar Mantar is right outside Delhi CM Arvind Kejriwal’s home so that he doesn’t have to travel long distance to register his protest.
Meanwhile, Anna Hazare has requested a Jantar-Mantar and a Ramlila Maidaan in Ralegaon Siddhi as well since he is still guaranteed some support there. Fasting alone is no fun, Anna told this correspondent.
After this announcement by the Government, another protest started at Jantar-Mantar in Delhi against any land acquisition for the planned Jantar-Mantars.
