Islamabad: Habituated with demanding more proof as an excuse to deny involvement in any terrorist activity, Pakistan has gone a step ahead and asked itself to provide more proof to prove that worlds most wanted fugitive Osama Bin Laden was in Pakistan.
Even Osama didn’t know that he was living in Pakistan
Speaking to Geo News, Pakistan’s External Affairs Minister said, “Yes it is true. I don’t believe all that is being reported in the media. Like we have been demanding on previous occasions, this time too we have asked for more proof on this entire ‘Osama in Pakistan’ issue. In fact I have written an official letter to me asking for documents that will corroborate the claim that Osama was indeed ‘hiding’ in Pakistan.”
“After reading the letter I will decide if I need to respond with substantiated documents,” he added.
Many within the government believe that it is the most pragmatic approach to address any issue where Pakistan is unnecessarily targeted for harboring terrorist.
“We have done that in the past when India accused respectable Pakistanis like Hafiz Saeed of masterminding Mumbai attacks. I mean show us proof and when we are not satisfied, show us more. That is all we are asking for. Is that so difficult to understand?” questioned an official from the Foreign Affairs ministry, with a frown on his face.
Speaking on the issue General Pervez Musharraf has once again said that he didn’t know that Osama was in Pakistan. “I swear to God I didn’t know he was here. I mean we used to play Counter Strike on LAN regularly, but I thought he must be somewhere in the mountains. I had no clue he was living next door,” he said innocently while replying to a question put to him by Geo News’ fiery news anchor Arnabuddin-Gul-Sami.
Meanwhile, there were mixed reactions from liberals in India, many of whom chose to ignore the issue saying that the Sudheendhara Kulkarni issue has already created a bad impression and India should avoid anything that would further worsen relations between the two countries. There were also others who squarely blamed PM Modi for not doing anything about it.
