“His Eid or His Eid?” fans decided to settle the issue online.
Mumbai. With the release of Chennai Express, Shah Rukh fans have gone ecstatic on Twitter and Facebook, some even claiming it to be his best so far.
Facebook confirmed to Faking News that pictures from all frames of the movie were posted as status updates or as comments in the last few days, while Twitter saw the hashtag #ChennaiExpress trending continuously for over two days and still going strong at the time of filing this report.
However, trouble arose as soon as the first day box office figures of the movie came out. 5-star enthusiast Trade analyst Taran Adarsh declared that Chennai Express had surpassed the first day collection of Ek Tha Tiger, and with that the Eid truce between Salman and Shah Rukh, which took place at an Iftar party a couple of weeks back, ended.
Within minutes of the announcement, Shah Rukh fans took to Twitter in large numbers announcing the return of King Khan and abusing Salman and his fans. 156 Salman fans were badly abused and several others trolled in the process.
Things went from bad to worse when another trade analyst Komal Nahata released another set of figures stating that Ek Tha Tiger was sill numero uno.
This causes a wave of counter attack with Salman fans, who were lying low all this while, coming back all guns blazing. Tweet-pelting was reported to from several IP addresses and the number of casualties rose.
The worst affected were normal Twitizens who were already reeling under depression having watched Chennai Express and recovering. Many who were caught in the cross fire between the two fan groups had to almost log-out of Twitter to escape. A few even logged into Orkut for some peace and sanity.
As tweets went out of control, the government has now imposed Section 66A on Twitter. This basically means not more than 10 people can tweet their opinion about Chennai Express in an hour. Also anyone found unnecessarily praising the movie or pulling it down to sound intellectual would be blocked.
While the fans have been silenced, Shah Rukh Khan was busy re-tweeting praise about the movie and Salman as usual was tweeting random stuff that made no sense but still got re-tweeted.
Away from all this, a well-known political commentator insisted that noting of that sort had happened on Twitter, and the only groups that fought battles online were people against or in favor of Narendra Modi.
