New Delhi. Acting promptly on the Sonia Gandhi’s diktat to the Prime Minister to ensure adequate safeguards to protect upright and honest officers like Durga Shakti Nagpal, the PMO today announced creation of ‘Honest Officers Reserves’ (Hon-Off Reserves) on the lines of Tiger Reserves.
“Honest officers, like tigers, face extinction and must be protected in earmarked areas,” said V Narayanaswamy, the Minister from the PMO while addressing a hurriedly called press conference.

“Sonia Gandhi ji was upset and hence we had to act fast,” the minister informed why the announcement was made on a Sunday night.
“It will be like a separate state, but since the earmarked areas fall in different geographical regions, we are calling it a reserve,” Narayanaswamy explained.
Five districts, one each in West Bengal, Bihar, Uttar Pradesh, Odisha, and Tamil Nadu, have been identified where only Durga Shakti like officers shall be posted and given protection.
It’s not yet clear if there are enough honest officers in the country to fill five districts, but sources say that the government went ahead with a large number to send a positive message to the public.
“We will start identifying and relocating honest officers into these zones very soon,” a PMO source told Faking News.
A separate secretariat – National Honest Officers Conservation Authority (NHOCA) has been put in place under the PMO to monitor the progress made under the project and will keep a count of such officers in service.
Every month, NHOCA will publish data as to how many officers became eligible to be declared as honest and how many have been de-notified.
“We don’t have relevant data and he’s not co-operating in furnishing the required data,” Narayanaswamy claimed when Faking News asked if IAS officer Ashok Khemka qualified as an “honest officer” as per NHOCA’s criteria.
The decision to create this new state has expectedly been met with sharp political reactions.
“Congress has chosen only those states where it is hunting for allies, this is nothing but an election gimmick,” a BJP leader claimed, who further went on to add that absence of Gujarat from the list either hinted at a conspiracy against the state or the fact that whole of Gujarat was a safe sanctuary for honest and upright officers.
SP chief Mulayam Singh Yadav, neither welcoming nor rejecting the proposal, has demanded reservation for honest officers belonging to the minority communities. He threatened to suspend the honest officers belonging to other communities from the district assigned to Uttar Pradesh if his demand for communal harmony was not met.
While the government might send signals that it’s planning to protect this endangered species, reliable sources tell us that the project is already doomed.
“Poachers have already been deployed in those five districts,” our source confirms, “These (poachers) include journalists, activists, industrialists, and even mafia bosses who will use saam-daam-dand-bhed strategy to make sure that the status quo is not changed.”
