New Delhi: Mankit Jain, a techie based in the capital has been hogging the headlines after becoming the first ever professional tennis player to have emerged after swatting mosquitoes armed with nothing but a zapper racket.
Speaking to Faking News Mankit said, “Yes it’s true, I have been ranked by Association of Tennis Professionals after they saw me zapping mosquitoes with my racket. They were pleased with my performance and now I can finally quit my boring coding job and become a professional tennis player.”
Our reporter also spoke to an ATP official who said, “Our team was in Delhi and we happened to meet Mankit at his residence. His skills with the zapper bat were no less than any professional tennis player. We saw him display forehand, backhand, and volleys to kill mosquitoes. I have to admit he did a really good job. In fact, some of his moves were better than Leander Paes.”
At a time when women players are outnumbering men in tennis too, the Sports Ministry has welcomed Mankit’s inclusion in the professional tennis circuit. “All we get to hear in news is Sania or Saina. Where are the Leanders of this country? Mankit is an inspiration to all youngsters who want to make a name in professional tennis. His success shows that you don’t need expensive racquets, coach and tennis court to learn tennis. A mosquito racket, few mosquitoes and passion for the game is all you need,” said an official from Sports Ministry.
World No. 1 tennis player, Novak Djokovich congratulated Mankit and said that he set an example with his success story. “It’s inspiring how new players are born and found in the unlikeliest of places. It will be an honor to play against him,” tweeted the top raking tennis player.
Meanwhile, AAP chief Kejriwal has taken credit for Mankit’s achievements and said that it was his government’s efforts that are bearing fruit now.
“Our inefficiency in controlling mosquito population has given a professional tennis player to our country. People keep saying that AAP has done nothing for the people of Delhi. Kise pata tha ki ek machar aadmi ko tennis player bana deta hai,” he said with a grin as he handed out free mosquito zapping bats to young and aspiring tennis players.
