Redmond: In an unprecedented move, Microsoft chief Satya Nadella just handed himself a pink slip in a bid to realign the organization and improve profit figures.
In an email sent to employees he said, “As the Chief of Microsoft, It’s my responsibility to keep the company profitable in the face of increasing competition. The recent profit figures have not been very encouraging. I had a meeting with the head of various business verticals and we sought to identify how we can cut costs and increase our profit. We are looking to plug any leaks in our business that is draining our money. I am happy to announce that we have successfully identified a way to make Microsoft profitable again and hence I am handing myself a pink slip. This move is expected to raise the profits by 50% and save as many as 7000 jobs.”
Tech experts have lauded Mr. Nadella’s move and said that this will be a game-changer in the industry. Some say that this move is expected to be emulated by other tech giants too, who see massive layoffs as the only solution to cut costs.
Meanwhile, Nasdaq reported a 10% jump in Microsoft’s share price after the news of ‘I am handing myself a pink slip’ was released in the media.
