Mumbai: Maharashtra CM Devendra Fadnavis who has been receiving bad press lately for delaying AI flight, has chosen to come up with a bizarre excuse to justify the delay. According to Mr Fadnavis the delay was caused due to Windows updates.
As per sources close to the Minister, “Mr. Devendra Fadnavis was supposed to fly to the US to meet a business delegation. He was carrying his personal laptop and was working on a presentation for the meet. Before take off there was an in-flight announcement and the cabin crew requested passengers accessing laptops to save their work and turn it off. Just as Mr. Fadnavis was about to shutdown his laptop he got a message on the screen which read ‘Installing updates. Please do not turn off your computer’. Mr Fadnavis had to wait and that led to the delay.”
Although BJP maintains the the delay was caused by a ‘mix of reasons’, this is the first time that the party has released an official statement blaming the Operating System even as some news channels were reporting it as case of VVIP racism.
Meanwhile Congress party was already gunning for resignation of the Maharashtra CM. A senior leader from the party commented on the situation and said, “Look how cleverly they shifted the blame. It’s a clear case of VVIP racism. PM Modi is talking about digital India and BJP Ministers don’t have a clue about how to shut down their laptops properly.”
Mr Fadnavis’ excuse may not seem like a credible one; however tech experts say that Windows updates are notorious for showing up at the wrong time. It’s like the updates are designed to pop up when you are in a hurry to shut down your system. Even Microsoft has acknowledged that such updates although necessary can be irritating at times. Though, the OS has gone through many revisions, the bane of Windows Updates still exists. At a time when the tech giant is looking to release the latest version of its OS, the question is will it deliver what it promised or will it go the AAP way.
