Mumbai. Salman Khan fans may now have to pay to watch even trailers of his upcoming films. The producers of future Salman starrers met early today and decided to encash the craze and anticipation the trailers of his films have among fans, by releasing them in theaters instead of YouTube or TV henceforth.
“We were surprised to see hashtags like #WeWantBajrangiBhaijaanTralier #BajrangiBjaijaanTrailerin3days trending for almost a week consecutively. I mean they have been the only consistent trends besides #निर्दोष_बापूजी_को_न्याय_मिले and #TimesNowImpact,” pointed Sooraj Barjatya, producer of Salman’s next film with Sonam Kapoor.
“We realized that we producers were missing out on a huge chunk of revenue by not monetizing the trailers and decided to be the first ones to set such a trend,” he added.
Sources claim that watching trailers of Salman’s film wouldn’t be heavy on pockets of fans at all. The tickets would be priced nominally, but as trailer are of shorter duration, there would over 100 screenings in a day at a cinema hall, enabling producers to earn what they set out for.
For those finding it inconvenient to go to multiplexes or halls, there would be option to watch the paid trailer on the official movie website. Also the posters of the film would now act as the trailers of the trailer.
“If not 200 or 300 crs, we are confident the trailers would at least earn 100 crs,” said a confident Arbaaz Khan, producer cum brother of Salman.
“And if the trailer exceeds the revenue expectations, then we may scrap shooting the remaining portion of the film and may not release it at all,” said Arbaaz arguing that as it is Salman’s films are just a prolonged version of trailer.
“Also in future we could see Salman only signing up for trailers and not the entire film. This way he will be able to do at least 10-20 of mine and Sohail’s trailers in a year,” he added, jumping with joy.
Meanwhile trade analyst and hardly a film critic Taran Adarsh too has been roped in to review these trailers.
