Terrorists planning to starve Mumbai by cutting down supply of Pav

Mumbai. Arrested terrorist Yasin Bhatkal has revealed that after targeting local trains, terrorists are planning to attack another Mumbai lifeline – Pav.

It is a well known fact that Pav is soul of Mumbai; be its Vada Pav, Samosa Pav, Misal Pav, Usal Pav, Kanda Bhajia Pav, Pav Bhaji… the list is endless.

“Since bomb blasts couldn’t deter the Mumbai spirit, they are planning to target the soul of Mumbai,” confirmed a source in NIA (National Investigation Agency).

Ladi Pav

Is it a form of bio-terrorism? Experts are discussing.

As per NIA sources, the latest terror mission is being handled by malnutrition cell of Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT), and they are calling it “Mission Pav Hatao”, which aims to starve Mumbai by cutting supply of its staple food.

According to the plan hatched in Pakistan, LeT terrorists, with the help of Pakistani traders disguised as Indian buyers, will offer Pav suppliers a slightly better price than their Indian counterpart.

They will pay in fake Indian currency and take the Pav to Pakistan – thus giving a deadly blow both to the Indian economy and to the wellbeing of the common man.

“In case they fail to take it across the border, they may burn the Pav consignments or even dump them in sea,” the NIA source revealed sending shockwaves across the whole city. Panicky Mumbaikars were spotted buying Pavs in large quantities to take on any eventuality.

Experts say that this was coming.

“What could be a better target for terror outfits? They are having simple agenda, hit where it hurts most,” said Amrindar Singh, writer of the famous book ‘Evolution of terrorism’, “This is hitting above the belt.”

Interestingly, some have welcomed the development.

“I think we should appreciate this move. I think NIA is targeting this scheme because of religious reasons. There is no proof that fake currency will be used. It’s clear that this move will help India become a leading Pav exporter,” claimed Samajwadi Party leader Kamaal Farooqi.

Farooqi requested the government of Maharashtra not to do anything – a request that was promptly accepted by Home Minister RR Patil.

Meanwhile intelligence agencies have also expressed possibility of similar attack on Delhi where terror outfits may try to devoid Delhi of Paneer, Chicken and Rajma.
