New Delhi. Upset with the fact that anyone with an internet connection and basic language skills can take part in rumor mongering, the government is thinking of issuing licenses for rumor mongers.
“Social media has taken rumor mongering to dogs,” I&B Minister Manish Tewari said, “We need to set up some minimum qualification for rumor mongering. Maybe even a national aptitude test for being a rumor monger.”
Intellectuals are missing the good old ways of spreading rumors
Tewari said that such licensing system and regulation will help the government control rumor mongering and information dissemination.
“We can choose what rumors should be allowed to spread and which one to suppress. This will help every government so every political party should support it,” he told Faking News.
Sources say that the government is upset with the fact that these days people can spread rumors just by a mouse click while earlier it took rigorous and scholastic process involving “sources”, “eminent citizens”, and an ISBN number to name a few.
“Rumors per se are not bad, even religions started and spread through them,” claimed a social scientist who supported the licensing system for rumor mongering, “If the licensing system can bring back skills, style, class, and elegance in rumor mongering, we should welcome it.”
