Bride calls off wedding after groom spends more time ‘searching for free wifi’ during wedding

Gurgaon: The guests at a Gurgaon based wedding witnessed more than the spectacle they had expected after the bride called off the wedding when she found that the groom was more interested in ‘searching for free wifi’ than complete the wedding rituals.

Nidhi Chaudhary, who was supposed to get married to Ankit Arora, spoke to our reporter as to why she took this extreme step.

“Since the time our marriage has been fixed, I have been observing him. Even when we used to go out for movies, he used to behave weirdly. I remember him watching the entire movie sitting on the aisle steps in the theatre as the ‘wifi network was better’ there. I thought he would change, but look at him now. Just when we completed the 5th phera he refused to continue as it was causing the ‘free wifi connection to drop’. I can’t even think of spending my life with him,” said Nidhi as she was tearing apart the wedding decoration.

Ankits friends however completely support him. “It’s a natural human tendency that we just can’t resist the word free. I mean with so many apps to download and update, free wifi is godsend,” said a friend.

Several guests at the wedding were disappointed with the event being called off. “I hardly know anyone here. I just came because you get ‘free food’ at weddings. This is the wedding season and to tell you honestly, I have not spent a single penny on food in the last one month. Been having Shahi Paneer at weddings for the last couple of days and the menu here looked different, but now I think I will have to attend some other wedding before the food gets over there,” said a guest.

Nidhi’s case has struck a chord with a lot of feminists. A Womens support group hailed Nidhi actions and termed it revolutionary.

Media too picked up on the story and some even called her Queen, a reference to the character played by Kangana Ranaut in a move by the same name.

“Ladies and Gentlemen, we ask you to support women like Nidhi in her fight for respect. Please tweet using the hashtag #JusticeForQueen,” said a news anchor even as feminists on panel were seen outraging.

Meanwhile, self confessed and publicity hungry bollywood celeb Rakhi Sawant lashed out at Ankit.

Usko wife nahi wifi chahiye. Mai kehti hoon wifi se hi shaadi kar aur uske saath hi bacche paida karna. Such men don’t deserve women,” she screamed as she slapped Faking News cameraman because his looks resembled that of Mika Singh.
