People in Uttar Pradesh protest after sudden electricity supply in the state

Lucknow. While Delhiites were grappling with power cuts in the city, people in Uttar Pradesh were caught totally unaware after there was sudden power supply in some cities of the state.

This unexpected and uncharacteristic goof up by the UP electricity board was enough to create a state of frenzy on the streets with many people seen protesting outside Chief Minister Akhilesh Yadav’s office.

Arguing that they had gotten so used to having no electricity, that sudden supply left many of them shocked and had them running helter skelter. Many thought some Transformers had ambushed the state.

“My 5 year old son was shit scared after the fan suddenly started rotating. He had never witnessed such a scene in life and thought all this while that the fan was just a show piece installed by us on the ceiling,” said a horrified 33 year old man.

Unable to wait for UP electricity board to act, some impatient people took it upon themselves and even climbed up the poles to cut electricity and restore normalcy in the state.

“With no electricity we are so used to sleeping almost naked because of hot weather. When we woke up in the morning, almost all of us were shivering and looking for sweaters around,” quipped a 26 year old man who caught pneumonia due to coolers in his room working at full speed.

“I had made a tea for myself, kept it in fridge, and had gone out as there was knock on the door. By the time I was back it had become iced tea,” recalled another woman from Etawah who had started using her refrigerator as normal storage after there was no electricity for long time.

Many families, who had gone off to some cooler place for vacations, too were shocked when they saw all their appliances like Washing Machine, ACs, etc. running after they came back.

“We have forgotten the last time we touched switch boards in our house. Since there is perpetually no electricity, we never bothered to switch appliances off,” one such family told Faking News.

Opposition parties too joined the people in blasting SP government. They said that the government should have at least issued warnings before this tsunami.

“Its almost like Indian meteorological department saying it will rain today, and it actually rains,” said a BSP leader demanding president rule in the sate for this serious lapse.

Meanwhile UP government apologized for the mistake. The power minister said that there was a technical glitch that resulted in this catastrophe. They further sacked all employees responsible for this blunder and revoked license of the discoms responsible.
