Maharashtra claims “God’s Own Country” tagline to promote Sachin tourism

Mumbai. Maharashtra Tourism Minister Chhagan Bhujbal has demanded that Kerala should hand over the “God’s Own Country” tagline to Maharashtra because Sachin Tendulkar, the God of cricket, belongs to Maharashtra.

“Well, it’s true that Sachin belongs to the whole country, but after his retirement, he will spend most of his time in Maharashtra. We are planning to promote tourism and pilgrimage to the state using Sachin, and hence we need that tagline,” Bhujbal explained.

Incredible India!

Sources tell Faking News that the state government is planning to convert Wankehde stadium, where the God played his last international cricket match, into a pilgrimage site.

Apart from that, they would soon be opening a temple and a museum for Sachin Tendulkar. Bhujbal, who was earlier with Shiv Sena, criticized people of Bihar for opening such a temple before people of Maharashtra could do so.

“Sons of the soil should have the first right. I will talk to Nitish Kumar, who is also a converted secular like me, to bring that temple to Maharashtra,” Bhujbal said.

However, in Kerala, Congress and CPM have called for a joint hartal against this move. Congress leader and Kerala cum Cricket enthusiast Shashi Tharoor tweeted that he would talk to Rahul Gandhi to find a solution.

“I want to assure my fellow people, that in case Maharashtra gets the God’s Own Country tagline, I shall bring it back after being the next god, the Nataraja of Cricket,” fast bowler cum dancing sensation form Kerala, Sreesanth announced amidst rising tension between the two states.
